Kratom versus CBD

As a medicinal plant, kratom has been used for a long time by different people across the globe. It is often used for pain relief and relaxation. It also helps reduce anxiety and stress among people. With medical marijuana on the rise, new cannabinoids like CBD are entering the market.
CBD and Kratom are two of the newest, hottest products in the health and wellness market. With lots of available options, it’s sometimes difficult to choose which one is right for you. This blog gives you a few key differences between the two in order to help you decide which one is right for you.
What is difference between kratom and CBD?
Kratom and CBD are two different things. Kratom refers to the herbal tree, an Asian evergreen found in Thailand and Malaysia where locals use it as a mild stimulant and pain reliever, while CBD refers to the main ingredient in hemp used mainly for medicinal purposes due to its anti-inflammatory properties.
Kratom is a tropical tree (Mitragyna speciosa) that has green leaves that are considered medicinal in many circles. The herbal leaf has been traditionally used for both medicinal and recreational purposes and in the current day, some people use it for both.
There are three main strains of Kratom: red, white, and green. Red kratom is most potent and commonly used for pain relief and sedation when taken recreationally. White vein kratom, on the other hand, is more energetic and uplifting. This strain is effective for focus and creativity. And finally, green kratom falls somewhere in between the two.
The active ingredients in kratom include mitragynine and 7-HMG (7-hydroxy mitragynine). These are alkaloid compounds that bind to brain receptors and produce their effects.
CBD and THC are the most common cannabinoids found in cannabis products. While both CBD and THC occur naturally in marijuana plants, they also exist in other plant species, including hemp. A primary legal distinction between marijuana and hemp is the level of THC these plants produce. Hemp is a type of cannabis plant that contains less than 0.3 percent THC on average, while cannabis strains with higher levels of the compound are typically considered “marijuana.”
The Endocannabinoid System (ECS) is found in virtually all cells of the body and helps regulate physiological processes within the human body. CBD interacts with the ECS system to produce its effects. As ECS is found in all cells thus increasing CBD range of usage.
Which one is more useful? Kratom or CBD
Both Kratom and CBD have a lot of medicinal uses. Kratom is used for pain relief and has been known to help those with chronic pain, muscle soreness, and even opiate withdrawal. It’s also known to relieve anxiety and improve mood.
Whereas the most common use for CBD is for reducing inflammation, which can help with rheumatoid arthritis. Medical cannabis works wonders on neurodegenerative conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis (MS) or Fibromyalgia (FMS). Cannabis is also great for reducing anxiety and preventing epileptic episodes that are triggered by epilepsy. When it comes to chronic pain associated with things like Arthritis, medical marijuana reduces symptoms significantly making life more livable by minimizing the debilitating effects of this type of illness!
In comparison to cannabis (CBD), since kratom is believed to act primarily on the body’s opioid receptors, using it carries its own risk of addiction and withdrawal. If one takes it consistently for a period of time before stopping, the risk for addiction is theoretically greater than with cannabis. Additionally, if stop taking kratom abruptly, then there could be adverse effects.
Kratom likely works better than cannabis for kicking a serious opioid addiction because the herb was used for thousands of years by cultures around the world as medicine.
Bottom line:
Kratom, when compared to CBD, appears to have more acute pain-relieving capabilities for serious tissue damage. When it comes to chronic neuropathic pain, CBD seems to be the preferred therapeutic remedy. While side effects caused by Kratom dependencies and withdrawal exist when not used properly, CBD does not appear to present such risks.
Though kratom can be a wonderful replacement for many prescription drugs (as it is often referred to), there is still very little clinical data available on this super-plant and as such, any decision to add it as an element of your daily regimen should come with all the facts before jumping into things. The same is with CBD, you should first consult your doctor before use.
